LA-based fashion expert and stylist Nikki Pennie has worked with labels Luella, Celine and Issa. She has the distinction in the fashion world of having introduced Prince William's bride-to-be Kate Middleton to the Issa label. Pennie has also styled the likes of Madonna and Cat Deeley.

London, England (CNN) -- She may be Britain's future monarch, but that doesn't mean Kate Middleton is restricted to wearing pricey couture pieces and designer labels.

In fact, the future Princess Catherine is a huge fan of Britain's iconic "high street" -- a term used to describe the main shopping street in towns and cities across the UK.

Kate's love affair with Britain's high street retail stores has been well documented over the years -- from the Reiss number she wore in her engagement photos to the simple monochrome Topshop dress she stepped out in on her 25th birthday.

Now, Kate has been snapped by the paparazzi shopping up a storm in London's fashionable shopping high street, The King's Road, in Chelsea, only days before her wedding.

And true to form, she walked right past the street's exclusive boutique stores, favoring the more popular retail stores, such as Warehouse -- where she purchased a number of summer dresses, presumably for her honeymoon, at only $100 dollars per dress.

If you're in town for the royal wedding, you too can go to Warehouse and obtain the exact same dresses as Kate, if they haven't already sold out by now!

In fact, it's becoming more fashionable to shop on the high street, rather than splurging $1,000 for a similar dress that is from a designer label -- and this doesn't only apply to clothing but to accessories too.

Here are my top tips for looking fabulous for less:

Trench coats never go out of style

You can get a fabulous trench coat at all of the stores right now. A trench is a consistent classic that you can wear during the spring-summer with jeans or even a cocktail dress, adding a touch of effortless chic. This is a "must-have" item that will never let you down!

Accessories are a "make or break"

Accessories can make or break your look, so it's important to accessorize each outfit in the correct way.
Never pile on the jewels. If you are wearing a simple top or dress then add a statement necklace, earrings or cocktail ring. Always add a touch of glamour with your jewelry.

Kate keeps her jewelry to a minimum (apart from her stunning engagement ring). She always opts for delicate and understated earrings, necklaces or rings. The perfect place to get the most sensational jewels on a budget is Jewelmint. I am a big fan of their earrings, which look so expensive, nobody ever believes they are $29.99.

The Power of Love

Love is as critical for your mind and body as oxygen. It's not negotiable. The more connected you are, the healthier you will be both physically and emotionally. The less connected you are, the more you are at risk.
It is also true that the less love you have, the more depression you are likely to experience in your life. Love is probably the best antidepressant there is because one of the most common sources of depression is feeling unloved. Most depressed people don't love themselves and they do not feel loved by others. They also are very self-focused, making them less attractive to others and depriving them of opportunities to learn the skills of love.

There is a mythology in our culture that love just happens. As a result, the depressed often sit around passively waiting for someone to love them. But love doesn't work that way. To get love and keep love you have to go out and be active and learn a variety of specific skills.

Most of us get our ideas of love from popular culture. We come to believe that love is something that sweeps us off our feet. But the pop-culture ideal of love consists of unrealistic images created for entertainment, which is one reason so many of us are set up to be depressed. It's part of our national vulnerability, like eating junk food, constantly stimulated by images of instant gratification. We think it is love when it's simply distraction and infatuation.

One consequence is that when we hit real love we become upset and disappointed because there are many things that do not fit the cultural ideal. Some of us get demanding and controlling, wanting someone else to do what we think our ideal of romance should be, without realizing our ideal is misplaced.

It is not only possible but necessary to change one's approach to love to ward off depression. Follow these action strategies to get more of what you want out of life—to love and be loved.

* Recognize the difference between limerance and love. Limerance is the psychological state of deep infatuation. It feels good but rarely lasts. Limerance is that first stage of mad attraction whereby all the hormones are flowing and things feel so right. Limerance lasts, on average, six months. It can progress to love. Love mostly starts out as limerance, but limerance doesn't always evolve into love.

* Know that love is a learned skill, not something that comes from hormones or emotion particularly. Erich Fromm called it "an act of will." If you don't learn the skills of love you virtually guarantee that you will be depressed, not only because you will not be connected enough but because you will have many failure experiences.

* Learn good communication skills. They are a means by which you develop trust and intensify connection. The more you can communicate the less depressed you will be because you will feel known and understood.
There are always core differences between two people, no matter how good or close you are, and if the relationship is going right those differences surface. The issue then is to identify the differences and negotiate them so that they don't distance you or kill the relationship.

You do that by understanding where the other person is coming from, who that person is, and by being able to represent yourself. When the differences are known you must be able to negotiate and compromise on them until you find a common ground that works for both.

Focus on the other person. Rather than focus on what you are getting and how you are being treated, read your partner's need. What does this person really need for his/her own well-being? This is a very tough skill for people to learn in our narcissistic culture. Of course, you don't lose yourself in the process; you make sure you're also doing enough self-care. Help someone else. Depression keeps people so focused on themselves they don't get outside themselves enough to be able to learn to love. The more you can focus on others and learn to respond and meet their needs, the better you are going to do in love. Develop the ability to accommodate simultaneous reality. The loved one's reality is as important as your own, and you need to be as aware of it as of your own. What are they really saying, what are they really needing? Depressed people think the only reality is their own depressed reality. Actively dispute your internal messages of inadequacy. Sensitivity to rejection is a cardinal feature of depression. As a consequence of low self-esteem, every relationship blip is interpreted far too personally as evidence of inadequacy. Quick to feel rejected by a partner, you then believe it is the treatment you fundamentally deserve. But the rejection really originates in you, and the feelings of inadequacy are the depression speaking.

Recognize that the internal voice is strong but it's not real. Talk back to it. "I'm not really being rejected, this isn't really evidence of inadequacy. I made a mistake." Or "this isn't about me, this is something I just didn't know how to do and now I'll learn." When you reframe the situation to something more adequate, you can act again in an effective way and you can find and keep the love that you need.

Love is a telephone which always keeps silent when you are longing for a call, but rings when you are not ready for it. As a result, we often miss the sweetness from the other end.

Love is a telephone which is seldom program-controlled or directly dialed. You cannot get an immediate answer by a mere "hello", let alone go deep into your lover's heart by one call. Usually it had to be relayed by an operator, and you have to be patient in waiting. Destiny is the operator of this phone, who is always irresponsible and fond of laying practical jokes to which she may make you a lifelong victim intentionally or unintentionally.

Love is a telephone which is always busy, When you are ready to die for love, you only find, to your disappointment, the line is already occupied by someone else, and you are greeted only by a busy line. This is an eternal regret handed down from generation to generation and you are only one of those who languish for followers.

Love is telephone, but it is difficult to seize the center time for dialing, and you will let slip the opportunity if your call is either too early or too late.

Love is a telephone which is not always associated with happiness. Honeyed words are transmitted by sound waves, but when the lovers are brought together, the phone servers no purpose that many lovers observe that marriage is the doom of love.

Love is a telephone which often has crossed lines. And this usually happens to you unexpectedly. Your time will either cross or be crossed. Both cases are refereed to as "triangle". Fortunately, all such occurrences are transient.

Fashion Tips: Dress to Look Young

Dress to look young? Well think about it, how are you normally dressed? How do you normally present yourself to others? Unknowingly, a lot of us have been wearing clothes that made us appear older than we actually are, especially due to the nature of our work.

To maintain a youthful look, a lot of women have invested heavily on skin care products. Many at times neglecting the very basic, the clothing they wore everyday, the way they are dressed. Some due to their profession didn't even realize that all these while; they are actually dressing to look old! Anti-ageing cream simply won't just do magic to them.

To look young and pretty isn't really that difficult. All you need is to spend a little time & effort, giving yourself a little touch up.

Tips:

Try out a new hairstyle. Visit a hairdresser, they will be able to advise and styled your hair to suit you, bringing out that radiant in you.

If you are still wearing glasses, why not give it a try with contact lens? You can have excellent peripheral vision and at the same time, ease, comfort and convenience. Not forgetting to mention, a more youthful look. Don't you love the way you naturally look without your glasses?

Put on some light makeup to help lift your face, bringing out that natural beauty in you. Do however avoid too heavy a makeup; a heavy eye makeup tends to add ages to the look.

Try out new styles; add a little color to your daily wear. Yes, appropriate dressing for work is important, especially when your job involves frequent meeting with clients. But still, that doesn't mean that you have to stick to the same old boring dull clothing everyday. Well, as long as they are not too short, too tight, too revealing and too bright, you can still have fun with mixing and matching while maintaining your professional image.
